In the highlands of Guatemala, nine out of ten children living in poverty will never graduate from high school. For families in El Jocotillo, the choice between sending a child to school or having them work to survive is a daily, impossible calculation.
Research shows it takes 12 years of quality education for an indigenous Guatemalan child to permanently rise out of poverty. That school doesn't exist yet in Jocotillo — but it can. And your gift at this gala is how it gets built.
The Ministry of Marlon & Ana Salguero
For years, Marlon and Ana Salguero have been a lifeline for the community of Jocotillo — not as outsiders offering charity, but as trusted neighbors building something lasting, one brick and one meal at a time.
The ministry purchases crops directly from local farmers, strengthening the local economy while sustaining the community.
That food is distributed to families in need — nourishing people today and building deep trust within the community.
The ministry builds safe, durable homes for families — providing a foundation of stability that makes everything else possible.
The school is the final, crucial pillar — designed to give children the tools to break the cycle of poverty for good, for generations to come.
